RESULTS ARE IN:
Â
You are currently stuck in a low confidence cycle.
But dont worry, it doesn't have to be that way forever!
Your low confidence cycle is created by a set of habits and patterns which you have unconsciously adopted at work.
Let's dig into your results and what to do about it...
Low confidence cycles happen when someone adopts patterns, beliefs, and behaviours that cause them to set unrealistic standards for themselves, fail to acknowledge good work, and manage themselves poorly.
That might look like focusing on the negatives rather than their positive achievements, struggling to tolerate failure, or being self-critical; all of these are extremely common at work.Â
Based on your quiz results, it seems that you often struggle with these areas at work.Â
But, this is actually good news, because it means there are lots of things you can do to start growing your confidence now.
Your first aim should be to notice when a low confidence cycle habit happens. Being able to recognise the habits of a low confidence cycle is the first step towards getting unstuck and moving towards a high confidence cycle.
A high confidence cycle looks like…
- Good self-management skills: you focus on the work you’re doing rather than how you’re being perceived, speak to yourself with respect, and you know how to handle self-doubt when it pops up.Â
- Intentional focus on the positives and progress you’ve made.
- Setting realistic standards. You don’t try to be perfect all the time, you’re able to tolerate making a mistake and still feel secure in your job.
- Acknowledging your good work and give yourself the praise you want from other people.
Switching from a low confidence cycle into a high confidence cycle is possible. I’ve helped hundreds of people do it and I would be honoured to help you too.
In order to move from a low confidence cycle to a high confidence cycle, you need to:
Â
- Manage yourself in a way that supports confidence. We all have an internal manager who oversees every piece of work, comes to every meeting and 'manages' us throughout our career. Check in now on how your internal manager treats you. In order to grow your confidence, your internal manager needs to be supportive, encouraging and fair. Is yours?Â
- Learn how to consistently set realistic standards. Make sure you don't get stuck in the cycle of demanding perfection, then beating yourself up when you (like a normal human being) can’t achieve it! Check in with how you treat yourself when things go wrong, you can still learn from your mistakes AND be fair. Beating yourself up for weeks for not getting things perfect, or when something goes wrong is a sure fire way to keep yourself stuck in a low confidence cycle. How would your ideal boss treat you if something went wrong? Aim to manage yourself like that if you move to a high confidence cycle.
- Acknowledge the positives and recognise your efforts. Most of us are able to recognise the positives in others, but rubbish at doing it for ourselves. If you only focus on the negatives, you will see a very skewed and unrealistic picture. Imagine having a boss who only ever focused on the negatives and never acknowledged you for the things you do well? It wouldn’t help you feel confident! Aim to acknowledge yourself for one thing each day, it might feel strange at first, but I promise, it’s key to moving into a high confidence cycle.
